Rachel Garrard
Rachel Garrard’s natural linen and hand-crushed pigments reflect her deep connection to the land. The expansive and varied landscapes of the Americas find their way here in iconography that feels at once grounded yet spiritual, historic while intensely current. Her geometric precision yields to her organic blending of form and color and, in so doing, places us at the intersection of the metaphysical and our surrounding environment. We are at once connected to the land and liberated from it as we fall into Garrard’s deafeningly quiet canvases.

Rodrigo Valenzuela
Rodrigo Valenzuela’s sculptures speak to human progress as witnessed through a bird’s eye view of imaginary urban landscapes. His disjointed, incoherent, and perhaps inoperable mechanics hint at the mystery of these built environments. There is an obscurity to these objects, reminiscent of Nevelson’s single-colored works where she endeavored to infuse them with “a spiritual life that surpasses the life they were created for.” Valenzuela’s works suggest that in order to find our way, we must surrender and be swallowed by the metropolis - much the same way in which we must surrender to find spiritual enlightenment. -
